With over four decades of experience in risk management and employee benefits, Ted Mowery has built a legacy of expertise, leadership, and community impact. In 1985, he co-founded Gunn-Mowery alongside his father, the late Senator Hal Mowery. A few years later, he launched Gaughen Insurance, Inc. in collaboration with Jack Gaughen Realtor, then the largest residential real estate firm in Central Pennsylvania.

At Gunn-Mowery, Ted leads the Employee Benefits Practice Division, ensuring clients stay ahead in an ever-evolving healthcare landscape. His deep knowledge of self-insurance played a key role in developing Genesis, the agency’s innovative self-funded healthcare consortium. He also specializes in estate and business perpetuation planning, executive and deferred compensation, and annuities.

Beyond the office, Ted has been a dedicated force in the community. He has served on numerous boards and spearheaded fundraising efforts throughout the region. His leadership roles have included President of the Dauphin, Cumberland, and Perry County Mental Health Association, board member for the Capital Region Economic Development Corporation, the Frederickson Library, and a 14-year tenure on the Camp Hill School Board, including eight years as President. He was also a founding member of the Lion Foundation and served on the board of the West Shore Country Club. Today, Ted is the longest-serving board member of Mid Penn Bank, one of Pennsylvania’s premier community banks.

Ted earned his bachelor’s degree from Gettysburg College, where he was a proud Phi Delta Theta brother and a Bullet on both the football and wrestling teams. When he’s not helping clients navigate their insurance needs, you can find him on the golf course, hunting, or enjoying the beach in Lewes, DE. Ted and his wife, Lisa—his high school sweetheart—cherish time with their three adult children and four grandchildren.
